Hiccups! Hiccups! Hiccups. Jeremy went for 4 hours this afternoon without him and I go and mention it to a friend of mine while chatting on the phone and there they were again. Pray they go. Pray we figure out the fix - at least the fix for Jeremy. The doctors and nurses here told us that if we come up with a cure for hiccups, we would be millionaires. I am up for anything. I think we might try sugar and headstands when we get home if they are still here. :)
We have had a great day spending time together. There has been more trivia with even dumb old me getting a few correct. :) We have talked about tomorrow's service and how are hearts are in prayer with you all even now as it approaches. We have talked about the beautiful wedding we are missing today between Jeremy's cousin Wesley Allen and his bride Shannon in the lovely town of Hopkinsville. So, despite the hiccups, we have been communicating. Jeremy's precious mom sent a too fun care package that arrived today with hangman games and magazines and other fun. We played with those goodies as well. THANKS FOR THE M&M'S, Cindy. I will have to run farther in the morning. :) I have gotten spoiled in many ways during my stay here - believe it or not. They have a treadmill in the lodge just like the one's I used at the YMCA back in Fort Worth and I LOVE IT. I can watch FoxNews and run, all at the same time. I know, Ken, how boring is it to see the same thing by running in place, but I got my news updates. :) I have even become so spoiled that when I entered the lobby today and discovered that the Starbucks is closed on the weekend, I contemplated getting online to find a nearby one on the subway. No, not really. I am not that bad. Today, I rejoined my old friendly form of caffeine - Diet Coke. :)
Jeremy has walked this morning and remained fever free. We are so pleased. His fever usually doesn't arrive until evening, so those of you who have been praying specifically for the fever to stay at bay, keep praying. Because of the fever, we did not lose any tubes today. However, we have located ourselves out of ICU! So PTL! I count that as a huge step forward. The surgeons came by to inform us of the order to relocate and stated that Jeremy looked great. I got to see the change of the dressing today and all incisions look beautiful. There is no sign of surface infection whatsoever, and there is no swelling to indicate infection beneath the surface. His appetite is still not back to normal just yet, and that could be the cause of some discomfort and nausea. He is nauseated because he has SO MUCH medicine pumping through him and nothing more on his tummy. Yet, when he does put things on his tummy, he gets nauseated as well. Hiccups, nausea, fever, appetite - those are the prayer requests.
Pray for the removal of the tube tomorrow and the gentleness of the nurse who assists in this removal. We are still not quite sure of the game plan from this floor, but we know that we will be here for a few days. Jeremy still has four more days of antibiotics left. As to whether we will remain here for the infusion of these drugs or if we will be sent home with them, this is currently unknown. He will go to oral pain medication either tomorrow or Monday as well. Pray that he will be wise in the use of this and not try to be superman.
As for humor, my children are probably providing the best entertainment. Each day I check on Abbi, I hear about her energy and spunk and charm. She seems to have swooned the hearts of a few fellas out there and I need you to know that it warms a mother's heart to know that our child is not an inconvenience. Everyone that sees her tomorrow, give her a kiss from her Mommy and Daddy and say to her "how cute are you?" You should get a great reaction. She's a ham. Now precious Emma - my thriving intellect - gave us one of the better stories of the week last night. She LOVES her Uncle Jason and was elated to spend the night with he and Aunt Rachel over the weekend. On the plane flight home, Emma read the emergency instructions in the back pocket of the seat in front of her. She does it every flight. We could probably quiz her on the location of pictures and she would ace the test. After she finished with that fine piece of literature, Jason and Rachel inform me that she began to study Uncle Jason's literature.
E - "Uncle Jason, why are you not reading the words in that book?"
J - " I am baby. I am just not reading them aloud."
E - "I don't hear you reading those words on that page."
J - "I am just reading them in my head, not speaking them out loud as I read."
E - "Read them out loud to me. I want to hear them."
J - "OK" as he begins to read about the Islamification of the world, a tad deep of a read for a 4 year old. Jason said that he stopped after reading an extensive amount to Emma and she requested that he continue. So, Emma is now up to speed on the influence of Islam in our world today. :)
Please give Emma a hug from Mommy and Daddy tomorrow as well. We miss them so. We are now going to try to walk a lap or two. Root him on good people. I have one more word for you before bed from a book I am currently reading. It will be in a final email for the night. God is good and I am humbled that He loves me so unconditionally. I hope you chew on that for now. YOU ARE LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY. You, yes you!
