Lung Update #25-- And then there was one-- by Jeremy

So, God continues to amaze us here in MD. Although we are not out of the woods yet, this afternoon Jodi and I got a gigantic surprise as the Drs came in to check up on us. We thought that they would let us know that everything looked good and plan to move forward with the CT scan tomorrow morning. However, upon their arrival they shared with us that chest tube #3 was going to be pulled immediately! WOW! Within minutes Dr. Kemp had prepared himself and was removing the tube from my lung. Now there only remains one piece of foreign plastic in my body. We told the Docs that if they wanted to go ahead and remove the last tube tonight or tomorrow that we would be willing to cooperate fully, but they seemed unwavering in their desire to wait. It appears that although there is little to no fluid still draining from the hole where this infection once resided, the lung still has not rebounded enough to fill the space, leaving an air pocket behind. If they remove the final tube, then the space could get infected and I could be in a boatload of a predicament. Anyway, tomorrow the surgeons will consult with my CGD doctors and hopefully come up with a plan to remove the final tube and clear me for home. We will know more tomorrow.

Please pray for the doctors as they confer with one another. Pray that they will take into consideration how desperately we want to be home and come up with a plan to make that happen as early next week as possible.

Thank you all so much for your prayers, cards, care-packages, letters, cookies, candies, games, and outpourings of love. They do help the healing go faster, and cookies and candy bars also offer as good bribes for doctors and nurses! Keep praying! We both love you all very much and cannot wait to see you again.-- Jeremy

Look at you Mr Powell, blogging, I never thought I would be so happy to see in print things you are thinking about and how well you are doing, PRAISE GOD! Is He not GOOOOOOD! and also BIGGGG. When we ask of Him and believe in Him he hears our prayers and petitions in your name. I feel so blessed to be apart of yours and Jodie's life, yall are like my "children" and I am very, very protective of my child (who by the way is in California, got there today and want be home until next Friday) Pray for him and Dana and the girls.
The removal of yet another tube, Praise God, one more to go. I know how very anxious yall are to come home (no more than we are anxious for you to come home) but stay and heal, get stronger, gain some weight (on a low fat diet) don't rush things, when yall get home we want yall to STAY home.
Love you both so much! Hugs, even kisses and much, much prayer to you both.
Jim & Brenda
