Some times consistent rain feels better than a "gully washer" and God has provided us with consistent showerings of His blessing. This afternoon, we have again seen God reveal Himself to our family through the miracle of modern medicine. After a botched first attempt to draw blood this morning, Jeremy's second bloodwork drawn revealed that his pancreatic enzymes have dropped another 400 points! THAT IS FANTASTIC!
We prayed specifically for 500, but we got 400, however if you count the past 2 days we have gotten a drop of 600. REGARDLESS, it is an answer to prayer. Now, his count is still quite elevated (he is around 1300 now and should be around 5-600), but there is serious consult going on with a dietitian in the clinic at this time to discuss what is the best strategy for Jeremy. His digestive system has not been in use in over 4 days, so the acids, enzymes, and fluids that are present are going to be extra sensitive to the reintroducing of any food product. So discussing with a dietitian how to get him off of his nutritional drip and back onto a self-ingested diet is going to be tricky. There is discussion about whether or not he can even have water today. Pray they let him have some liquids. Pray they at least let him have some water. There is talk of sending him home on the liquid diet. There is talk of sending him home on restriction. There is tons of talk. Pray that all the talk revolves around the best interest of the patient including the longing of the patient to go home. The surgeons are taking one last x-ray today to insure that the smaller tube they have inserted is in the correct place. They are pretty sure they have. After this x-ray, he is completely released from surgical doctors and only under the care of Dr. Malech. So pray for the wisdom of Dr. Malech and his team and pray for their mercy and desire to work with this patient. Pray that the enzymes take another gigantic plunge tomorrow. Another round of praying for 500 would be great. If the numbers in the morning look that good, I can bet that Dr. Malech will feel better about releasing Jeremy. Pray big and praise the Lord for His great blessings and mercy. Pray he can come home TOMORROW! Wouldn't it rock if we could have a prayer meeting tomorrow night welcoming home our pastor? Or just to get him home even in the wee hours of tomorrow night would be grand. I know that some of you can't wait to pinch his cheeks and right now I think he wants to see everyone so bad, he would endure cheek pinching, and squeezing of all proportions.
